I don't think that literature can be compared in two different languages as to each its own rules, notions, structures and most importantly essence that is widely gained from cultural aspects.

In my opinion there is no difference in both the literature as for as the form and intent of literature is concerned because literature is mirror of the society in which it is written.
English Literature presents English society and Arabic Literature Arabic society.
Themes and motive are the same but these are seen in cultural, traditional and the religious context of the society the literature represents.

Arabic language is  really miracle  , because it is the most difficult language and the easiest one to learn at the same time , very deep like a  sea , but other language does not have like this magic.

As literature reflects the culture of the coutry that means Arabic literature reflects Arabs nd islamic culture also American has same traites of reflecting culture so its just amatter of different cultures

I saw the differences in horror novels which isn't common in Arabic novels, for instead, Edgar Alan Poe the father of horror novels where in Arabic i can't recall any famous names
