In my opinion, delegation set based on goals, as a manager or decision maker achieved goals are what i want , that is why i am focusing on goals not accomplished tasks ( and let us remember Goals not always come through accomplishing tasks).
Regards
most times, employees view it this way; tasks usually leads to a goal and the task could be flexible in order to achieve the goal. therefore tasks gives room for more creative ideas, development of different skills, usually heterogeneous group will encounter problems or conflict while working on a task so this could also lead to the discovering of different problem solving skills while setting goals without identifying the various task necessary to accomplish the goal may lead to goals that may be hard to achieve.
I usually delgeate mostly in terms of goals but sometimes in terms of task depending on the scenario hanging before my team. Sometimes the deadlines and quality of goals can only be achieved if the right attention and focus is rendered towards the task phase.
delegation is important sometimes to reach the goal when the the right person can perform the task . and it helps staff growth and development.
In terms of goals. team should be goal oriented. tasks are always tied with goals.
It depends on the level of task maturity of the suboordinate, when the team member is skilled, mature and self deciplined i prefer to set a clear goal and delegate it with close/distant monitoring dependent on their level of experience.
It is vice versa. Delegation is required as a Leader, but you must work as a team to ensure the task is completed effectively and efficiently
I prefer to allocate Smart Goals to each team member and delegate the ownership of that goal. Delegation added with hand-holding & skill development help the individual to drive the goal he is allocated to. The goal owner is also encouraged to intelligent risks, which helps to bring in self-confidence

Team should be focus on goals and task are the part of goal.
I would prefer to delegate in favour of goals which eventually can be achieved through the accomplishment of certain number of tasks. Tasks can be person/member/team oriented and accomplishment of the same is the key for the successful goal achievement. In other words, you can't compromise on the tasks to be accomplished for the achievement of goals. Hence, leading and managing the team in a way to accomplish their tasks on time will lead to achieve your goals by default.
Yes, I delegate in terms of Goals to be acheived rather than tasks to be acheived. This is because, if you assign tasks to a team, they will only carry out the task and wait for the next tassk to be delegate, but if you assign goals to a team, they will continue to work in order to achieve to overall goal of the project.
