I think forums are still important. Hewitt Packard has a forum where existing customers interact . HP gives inputs to resolve issues with the computers like problems with windows8.Satisfied customers can shop online from HP.com.If they have critical issues with their product they can call the1800 no or they can also be guided to email and chat support if the product is Out ofwarranty.
