Every student has the potential to be an extraordinary one, however many individuals do not receive the sufficient support they need to excel. For example, those students coming from under-privileged backgrounds might have incredible potential, however due to the attainment gap that exists in education, they are prevented from reaching their full potential. Support is therefore essential for helping average students become extraordinary ones.

Teacher must exhibit a love for the subject materials, as well as sensitivity toward the knowledge / practice needs of students. When students understand that the instructor wants them to learn - for their own good - they are more open to receiving and applying knowledge learned in the classroom.
In addition to textbook requirements, students are stimulated to learn via: PowerPoint instruction; group learning tasks; individual / group projects, tailored worksheets, digitial learning platforms (Computer-Assisted Language Learning).
Formative assessment allow the students to flex their knowledge muscles prior to summative assessmennts (tests, mid-term and final exams).
All students start off in a similar manner. However there are different factors that can turn an average student into an extraordinary student.
First and foremost is the ability of Planning. A student must plan where he or she intends to be one month, one year, five years or even ten years into the future. Failing to plan is planning to fail, and this is because having a plan enables the student to have a direction.
Secondly, the extraordinary student is Proactive. Proactivity refers to the ability of creating or controlling a situation rather than just reacting to it. One simple example of proactivity is reading ahead and preparing notes and questions before the next class. This prepares the student for whatever may be met and creates a skill that would enable him or her to be efficient once employed.
To become extraordinary, an average student must be Diligent. Diligence is the persistence applied to any work or task. Simply, the student must never give up. One fails only when he or she gives up, but if one is diligent, he or she will rise and find new, better ways to solve the problem faced.
The extraordinary student has Dreams and Goals. If your dream does not scare you, it is not big enough. This is true, especially for students. To dream big may be to desire to be the CEO of a company or to own a company. Having a dream as big as this - or bigger - will give the student enough motivation to push through till the end.
Finally, and just as important as the others, is that a student must have enough Rest. It is important for the student to take some time away from the books to focus on him or herself. During this time, the student can perform leisurely activities like sports, art, or even reconnecting with friends. It gives the student time to recharge and get back to studying with renewed force.

All students have the potential to become extraordinary. It is up to the educator to create opportunities where the "extraordinary" can be expressed and appreciated.
