which is better, how & why....
leading insurance company approval doctor , or roaving doctor or reviewing doctor
or
medical insurance doctor in a medical health providing facility
If you are good enough to be flourish in your own profession then stick to it, I mean to say you are capable to be a specialist, consultant then keep going with your profession.
If don't think so then still you have to see can you handle complexity of claims/approvals then go for any of these. with passage of time you will learn the practice of insurance in claims and approvals. you need experience in your pocket and Insurance qualification to be in management position.
Approval doctor, claims adjudicator are the better choices initially.
At least start as a physician for a few years then you can take insurance courses to have a better understanding for the way things work from an insurance perspective.
Technically, in an insurance company, you will utilize more of your medical background and you will have a higher exposure to medical claims technical and medical review and other issues like cost containment, loss ratio, fraud, waste, and abuse.
on the other hand in a medical facility, your role will be only for submitting claims and medical coding.
Dear Sir
Thanks for the invite
Let me say from a doctor's perspective,
As a clinician there is always a soul filling satisfaction when the patient goes out from dr's office with a happy smile, it is more rewarding than the monetary gains we earn ,
After many years of practice I came in HEALTH INSURANCE not by choice but by chance and circumstances,
In these 6 years I acquired enough knowledge in the basic concepts of insurance, the rules, regulations, policies and the matters concerned, now I'm adequately trained in claim auditing , submissions , re-submissions, medical reviewing, medical under writing , fraud finding and formulating evaluating and implementing health care policies.
From a 'lone hero' now I wish to work as 'team leader ' in a managerial level in health insurance with an insurance company. The reason being I wanna grow further and wanna take the next step in my career, which would be more challenging, fulfilling and rewarding , of course that corporate culture and financial benefits counts too.
In future, I have plans to start my own ventures in insurance sector.
Thank you , Regret unable to answer the question because I am an insurance underwriter and not a doctor .
My best wishes.
