It all starts by setting a wake-up and sleep time, stick to it, learn to say no, and with the time you gave to yourself you start filling the gaps with activities using prioritizing techniques.
2- Sports/fitness/well being: If you're fit, in good shape, have good stamina, you will gain more confidence, have more power to work for longer hours. Make sure you fill your time gaps with one or two hours of exercising. Also if you suffer from things like diabetes, high cholesterol levels, low vitamin levels, etc, if you don't workout, monitor the food you eat, and carefully manage medications you will always feel weak, sleepy, dizzy, and you won't be able to do anything in general.
3- Continuous Education/Learning: Never ever stop acquiring new skills, and learning new things, doesn't matter what you do for living, there are always related skills that you can acquire to help you, with lots of skills the possibilities are endless.
4- Work smart not hard/Master patience/Trade space for time: When thousands of tasks strike upon you, when you feel your world falling apart, things getting messy, don't exhaust yourself trying to put it all together again, what can a soldier do? 5-Keep your edges sharp: If you don't have enemies make them, if your tasks aren't challenging ask to perform harder tasks, if you acquire a new skill don't stop utilizing it, always maintain a busy day, when you're busy and have lots of challenges that require lots of your skills you will always produce more, achieve more, and your skills will be sharper, your mind will be sharper and more functional all the time.
6- Master Social skills and Emotional Intelligence: You will always work with, through, and under people so you better learn how to deal with them and how to control your emotions.
7- Set goals and define milestones, reward yourself, keep yourself motivated.
8- The richest person on earth is the one who is pleased with what he/she has got no matter how small it is. If it is only a roof over your head with nothing else, be thankful that you do not have to sleep in the rain.
