Sorry its not a Question, Its just an opinion on VPN for the question "http://w.bayt.com/en/specialties/q/34979/which-technology-allows-a-user-to-securely-access-a-company-lan-across-a-public-network/?feed=top_stories" As I have included one answer there, I can't answer anymore.. If you are configuring a Firewall / Router for your own and you have good knowledge on Linux Systems.. You can go for "ClearOS Community Edition". Its OpenSource and Easy to configure You can configure it on a PC with dual Lan ( if you want to configure as gatway ) Install it, and install every module you want Like VPN, FileServer, Firewall, ProxyServer, FTP, NFS, Content Filter, WebServer etc etc.. Its best for Small to Medium Office A SSD HDD with2 GB Ram and Xeon Processor will be enough for the task. Its awesome have a try, The only con I have seen is its inability to filter HTTPS Traffic. You can even try it on VirtualBox or VMWare.. you will feel proud ;)
Hi Muhameed,
I was working with PfSense for the last three years, it's quite a powerful FW/Router system, and with few tweaks it'll get the ability to filter the HTTPS traffic, just give it a try !
