Memorizing has not value in our society; students need to learn about "learn to learn", in my view, the main task of the teacher should be to boost the student's inner capabilities.

If the focus is on long-term learning as opposed to short-term retention of information for the purpose of passing exams, then a meaningful pedagogy should create conditions for understanding rather than memorizing. it should be noted that  exam-based education isnt synonymous with real learning.

I think it really depends on the subject. For example if you're teaching math or physics, students obviously need to memorize certain formulas, but memorizing alone doesn't help, they would need to understand the formula and the lesson.

In language teaching, repetition helps the student to memorize but as a teacher I never expect my students to memorize anything. Students have different abilities and different skills, and the teacher's main job is to discover the abilities of his students and then try to adapt the material for their students. Because if you expect all your students to memorize, it would not be fair because not all students have the same abilities.

Thanks for your invitation. It's quite simple that it depends up on the student's ability. As a teacher we will always try to make them to understand the concepts which includes some memorizing techniques also.

The knowing of the terms is important as well as their truly understanding. Knowledge itself gaining through understanding the subject but not only by blank memorizing. If the student doesn't understand it means he/she missed something and better to find out where is a blank spot and try to fill it.

What you memorize today might be forgotten tomorrow, but what you truly understands remains in you and that is the goal we should chase with the education, the endurance of the knowledge and the ability to use it in different situations and scenarios

Students differ in their knowledgeable extent and way of memorising, therefore; as a teacher , it must be in my consideration. As a solution , an acceptable explained amount of scientific chemical or biological terms can be introduced to be studied and examined later.

I believe in understanding because it`s benificial for student

Memorising terms without understanding is not good at all. I neither memorise materials nor want my students to memorise things. Deep understanding and a lot of prctice will help the students to prepare for the exam.
