its coefficient of thermal conductivity used in calculation of heat transfer thru any material.it may be differ for any material as per its heat transfer characteristic
Theoretically all air flow measurement hoods should give correct measurement if Air flow irrespective to diffuser size & shape but practically there will be difference due to errors. As per ASHRAE, all measuring device to be validated with pitot tube measurement and then error to be defined which need to be added while taking measurement through hoods, This factor called k factor.
k is the property of a material to conduct heat
K factor will be different of each VAV boxes. We can calculate it approximately by the actual air flow versus the air flow of each VAV controller.
The K-factor is a fudge factor to get correct air flow
K factor is velocity pressure loss in HVAC duct and fittings, used to calculate the external static pressure loss for sizing the fan
Do you mean diversity factor?
Diversity Factor is defined as the ratio of the sum of the individual non-coincident maximum loads of various subdivisions of the system to the maximum demand of the complete system.
in HVAC :
In large buildings with many zones and exposures the building peak load generally changes as the sun load shifts during the day. However with VAV systems, the central heating and cooling (HVAC) equipment can be selected for the maximum building’s peak load (black load) that occurs either once during the summer (cooling peak load) or daily. As each VAV terminal air unit is sized for the peak load of the spaces it serves, the total capacity of all of the VAV terminal air units would be much greater than the capacity of the central HVAC systems and fans. The diversity factor is the ratio (or percentage) obtained when the total output capacity of the building HVAC system is divided by the total capacity of all Terminal Air Units connected to the system. This factor may vary considerably, but often is in the 0.7 to 0.8 (70 to 80 percent) range.
Diversity factor applicable depends on the usage of buildngsexample like : Hotels - aprox 70 to 80 %hospital - approximate - 60 to 70%schools varies and depends on usage
What K factor I'm also confusing
K factor of an outlet or inlet which is also a flow factor determined from the discharge or intake velocity and the volume flow rate.
incomplete question k factor for what service please explain.
K Factor denoates thermal conductivity
