Should an HR person distinguish between a will issue and a skill issue while taking action or while giving feedback. Example of will issue. – A technical trouble shooter takes the control of the customers computer without customers consent and accesses personal files of the customer which includes banking information and also personal pictures of the customer . The customer complains to the service provider that his/her personal information has been compromised. Example of skill issue or negligence of duty due to other issues. – A new trainee makes a mistake and as a result the work takes more time. This also affects the performance of co workers and the team. An employee who had high fever fell asleep during duty and as a result a theft has taken place.

This is an important observation. Will or in other words attitude matters most in any workplace.
It is said "ones attitude determines ones altitude"
An orgnaization may have created the desired infrastructre and put proper processes inplace! it might have provided all the knowldege and skills needed to its work force but it may still fail if it has not been able to awaken the "spirit within"' each one of its employees.
An orgnaizations ability to make an impact on t he market place depends on the workforce attitutde and the individuals attitude towards his company.
an orgnaization can excell only if its emplyees are psotive in their attitude, enthusiastic in its appraoch and sincere in its efforts. achieveing excellence depends on three factors
Every organization makes efforts to make an impact on the market place. Impact is a finction of knowldge, skills, processes and the awakened spirit wthin. The last one plays the most important role. it may spell success or failure depending on the will of individials and as group. managements struggle to create a work force made up of individuals whose spirits are awakened to the needs of the orgnaization.
Fortunately the issue of will can be dealt with effectively if managements adopt an unbiased, open minded and sincere approach to employee issues aprt from having a clear vision, a well though out action plan and a dependable customer and prospect base. Many organizations are ''people ready organizations'' that are equipped with right attitudes and action plans to deal effectively with adverse market forces to achieve great success.
An effective HR that does not play politics has an important role to play here for creation of an organization whose employees take pride in their jobs and their orgnaization. it is actually HRD where the emphasis on development of human resources for the good of the organization and as a result good of the individuals and good of the society in general.
Will issue - One has the capability and skills to do a task, but is not willing to do it for some reason. In this situation, the person will need to coached/counselled after understanding the reason/background.
Skill issue - One has the willingness to do a task, but does not have the capability and/or the skill do it. In this sitiuation, the person will need required training/practice so he/she can develop the required skill to perform the task effectively and efficiently.
Will issue, is an act that might deliver unsatisfactory work. They might have the will to do things but they dont have the skill to produce a quality kind of work. Whilts skill issue, might deliver a good quality work but the willingness to produce an amount of work is more less.
A will issue can be caused by a skilled or a non-skilled worker who can either be overdriven or less.
While a skill issue can be caused by the absence of will and proactiveness or absence of non-skilled worker itself that may affect greatly in production and unforseen situations in the workplace.
