Many teachers fail to improve their ability to be teachers because they fail to self- assess themselves. They believe that getting good test results and/or meeting performance targets are enough to prove that they are good teachers. In reality, this is not the case. Teachers should get in the habit to self assess themselves habitually. It is vital for their personal improvement as teachers and their collective improvement as members of the school body.
Self-assessment and self-reflection is a critical important skill for everyone especially teachers. Personally, after every class - i take notes in my digital diary (iphone) about what strategies went well and what didn't and come up with solutions. Some of the areas we can always self-assess are improving learner-centred activities, warmers, understanidng the different textures of silence in the ESL class, effectiveness of differentiated learning activities, classroom engagement etc. There will always be opportunities for continuous improvement.
The-degree strategy is designed for Self-assessment or performance evaluation. mean horizontal and vertical evaluation. Bottom to top level management evaluation and peers evaluation. Ask your manager, dean, principal to give his/her remark or point of view. Ask the same from your peers/colleagues to do the same. Write a questionnaire open-ended questions, give space of2,3 lines so they can express their point of view. Don't ask for the name (keep name section optional or don't include it). Distribute your questionnaire even among your students they will tell you your weakness and strong point. Try to make a simpe questionnaire for students and tell them that this questionnaire has nothing to do with their exams etc it will not affect their exam marks etc. You will find plenty of online sample for evaluation questionnaire.

First teachers have to be honest with themselves and have the ability to criticize themselves. They also have to make an effort in filling their shortcomings. Seeking help from specialists or consulting colleagues is not a fault. I always believe that we are all learners ( teachers and students), so teachers have to hold their ambition and confidence to improve their skills for the sake of both; themselves and their students.
