It will be great, if I get a chance to work with your organization and I would be quite lucky but what I think that your company must be offering a fair amount to someone like me, whose matching all that skills and qualification to this position before this answer I would like to know about my responsibility regarding this job and definitely I am quite querying to know that what is your budget and what is your amount that you offer for this position

This is a typical question where most interviews take a nose dive.....interviewers try to learn everything about you then once they do...they ask this question which is meant to put the interviewer in a position of control....and close the interview.

assume control by answering as follows :" what are my responsibilities ?"

No matter what the interviwer answers you...you will start a barrage of subsequent questions about your job risks, insurance coverage, involvement with other emplyees and any other questions you can think of to show how well you know what you are doing and demonstrate that you are truly a master analyzer.

Trifecta...!!!

1- You earn the interviewer's admiration

2- Stand out from the rest of the applicants

3- Ask for a higher salary since it is justified by your deep analysis of your counter questions.

It is a simple question but not completely relevant in the current stage of the recruitment proces would be my answer.

Fair to say that as company you like a good and professional candidate, and with that in mind I am interested if the package is conform the business standard.

So telling you my current salary without mentioning the complete compensation and benefits package by the company is incomplete. So please share with me the salary band and salary increasement policy to define with me the best offer.

i am willing to negotiate only if there is space to negotiate so tell me the extra,s besides a good salary.

This is not an answer but a reaction to the question "1) I have always wondered why the questions : How much is your current salary and what are your salary expectations - are a MUST to KNOW by the recruiter/interviewer, and should you answer and ask them back how much are they offering for the post, what is the value of this position to them, usually they will NOT tell you back, hence, not fair to the employee disclosing confidentiality while the value of the position is kept unknown.

2) I have been asked both of the above questions raised during the interview

a) Upon knowing how much you are currently getting - should you be hired, they will base their offer from your current salary. Which is again quite not fair because we all know that there are businesses that do not do well - hence, despite your talent they cannot afford to pay you as you deserve. And there are some "suckers" who earn well yes, but WILL NOT pay you more, and so, your salary becomes stagnant.

b)Upon knowing your salary expectations - they have a reason to turn you down, just because their offer did not match with your answers. I always tell them "I do not really expect this amount from the company, but this is my valuation of myself and what I can do". I do not base my expectations from my previous pay for the reasons I have mentioned on (a). Remember, applicants are all trying to sell themselves. If you will ask me this kind of question, definitely I will give you my MARKET VALUE.

3) Instead of asking WHAT IS YOUR SALARY EXPECTATIONS, why don't recruiters discuss during the interview how much salary they are willing to invest/provide to the right candidate? This way, the candidate will also have an idea if the next company is worth their time - we all age dont we! - and talent or not.  As anyway.

4) Whether we all like it or not, the companies reserve the right to hire whomsoever they feel and see fit for the job - intellectually, physically, psychologically, professionally, experienced/seasoned and with good track record (at least, the serious ones are always equal opportunity employers who do not discriminate applicants by age, gender, religion or nationality) as they are serious about boarding people based on talent + the ability to blend in, AKA, your "good nature", "personality").

NB : Please put more weight on talent, instead of hiring just another pretty face. Seriously, the employment here is becoming more like a pageant more than a quiz bee, and somehow, we have our eyes open to racism when it comes to PAY, look at the job ads and read up to the bottom, sometimes the qualifications of some offices are crazy! Sorry but I ignore those.
