Is PPAP necessary to approve a supplier? Why?

1) PPAP is applicable for production of new developed part /product.

2) For new supplier approval supplier evaluation / audit is applicable.

To provide shortage materials, repair and service from outsource approved vendor, parts to increase euipment availibility for  continuous process plant and finally raise the productivity in respect of finance, safety of plant asset, employee hence to obtain reliability.

Yes, PPAP is necesssry to approve a Supplier. Because PPAP documentation provides better understand about the new part/product development and get all answers from process flow chart, control plan that are to be arised when new part/product development.

PPAP Documentation is overall neccesary also in respect with Supplier evaluation. PPAP Basically Provides Basic Answers to Questions that are to be meet while new product is developed. It also determines wheteher the supplier is capable or not to meet the requirements of the customer. 

PPAP gives us confidence for customer that Process is well established with with all reuired necessory steps to approve product quality . Only PPAP is to approve a supplier approval. But approved supplier has to gone thru PPAP , APQP , , Capability , Assessment , selection and Evaluation processes.

Question is very clear that PPAP is necessary to aprrove a supplier. Hence yes , But not only to limited PPAP. PPAP is necessary for product / Part approval.

This is demonstrated by a set of documents proving that the product can be manufactured with desired quality and in a desired quantity by the supplier hence providing satisfaction to the customer. 

Yes,  PPAP is necessary to approve a supplier. Because  manufacturing process that the supplier choose to meet a design record should be judged through process flow  diagram, a part of PPAP.
