Geology is an earth science concerned with the study of solid earth, the rocks of which it is composed, and the processes by which they change over time. It can also be referred generally as the study of the solid features of the planet such as Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars etc. Geology is important for mineral and hydrocarbon and exploitation, evaluating water resources understanding of natural hazards, the remediation of environmental problems, and for providing insights into past climate change.

Geography is a field that details study of the lands, the features, the inhabitants, and the facts related to earth. It seeks an understanding of the Earth and its human and natural complexities, how they come to be and have changed over time.

From the above definitions, the triangular convergence is centered on the application of geological information to solve conflicts, minimizing possible adverse environmental degradation as a well as maximizing possible advantageous condition resulting from the use of natural and modified environment.
