If I convince a party to make a shift in its approach to the issue & at the same time we respect each others limitations ,the negotiation process becomes successful.
If I have 10 things to achieve in a negotiation session and I achieve more than 70% then this is success. If everybody goes happy then it is success.
win win situation for all parties involved.

A successful outcome in negotiation can only be measured by the on going relationship between the parties. Meaning if you havent protected the relationship and your negotiations have resulted in its breakdown, your negotiations have been unsuccessful regardless of the result. If you have concluded the negotiations and the relationship in in tacted then it has been successful. The art of negotiations is that there are no rules, like a good jazz session you need to know what and how to do things so that everyone accepts the outcome is appropriate.
