I think competition is an appropriate way to do so.
I, agree with Shahzad Khan
Equality among all employees
Never ever do that, by doing so you’ll damage the individual confidence and self-esteem. There are various methods through which you’ll boost the employee confidence or if you want to highlight any one as best or role model then never do direct comparison. Do praise the best one in open meeting and ask all to be like him/her so that the under-performer won’t feel offended.
Many micro managers do that, but those who build the employee and genuinely work for them will never do so.
Yes comparison between colleagues profession has a big role in building confidence base, and to find who is trustworthy than others, but I think it should be between you and yourself
No , competition can split a team. Every indivudual has her/his own strengths and weakness. Before you can build confidence you need to find a strength ,then build on that strength through motivation and praise .I discourage competition amongst employees , my team knows that each of them have their role in the office and together we make magic but split us and we fall.We work with each other ,not against each other . There is no I in the word team. Incentives are given to staff ,as a team. Complete this task together and we leave early (example), in this way the individuals who need their confidence levels boosted in a certain area , are also boosted by their peers. Our ultimate goal is to complete tasks effectively in the shortest period of time.Competition can kill this and cause seemingly weaker staff to be demotivated.
