Saying lies to promote sales - How far it is good ?
It's not good, it's bad.
Lying to potential customers is a crime in many jurisdictions. If a salesperson is found to be lying to customers they should be dismissed for gross misconduct and the police informed. HR should review its hiring and training procedures, and the saleperson's manager and immediate colleagues should be obliged to explain to senior management why they should not be fired too, since they either knew or should have known.
Customers who have been lied to do not make good customers: they make customer's who write negative reviews and hurt the company's growth. Yes an extra sale has been made, but there will never be a repeat sale and the company's reputation has been hurt. Not worth it. Half the point of selling to somebody is to inspire them to buy again, and get their friends to buy. Remember that the value of the company is based on the sum of all future sales.
A good salesperson doesn't need to lie to make sales. You have to be bad at sales and also a bad person to do that.
A frequent liar can't be a a good salesman because first in order to be a good salesman it is important to actually care about the customer, find about the needs of the customers. If the customers are not willing to buy then don't force them instead give them a reference to buy other product from other shop and customer will remember this loyalty and in future they will buy from us because of the trust and loyalty. But if the person is dishonest so he will try his best to sell his product and provide false information to the customer which can result in dissatisfaction of the customer if the product doesn't meet the required needs then salesman has lost his potential customers.
No,if he do this frequently or every now & than ,he is sure to loose his market or the customer base .Today the customer is very conscious & is willing to pay only for quality product & genuine after sales services or dealings.
Personally character is important in sales.because salesperson always in contact with clients.with people.even the product the best quality and price if the client feel the liar in salesperson it creat suspicion in all deal.yes there many this kind of people in sales.and usually this kind of people is lucky in B2C sales.but in B2B sales is different area.so here he/she can not get successfull sales.salesman is representative of company.and sometimes this kind of staff may be a black piar for company and take down the prestige of company.But Sales Manager can manage this kind of salesman and to control all his process.if the manager deem this person is usefull for the department.

For a while may be. Not for a long term. He can jsut sell once or twice with same lie not in long run.

No, it is not true as "you can cheating some people for sometimes, but you can not cheating all the people for all times".
Moreover, these type of salesmen, will badly affecting the organization's image in the market in the long term,much more than these peanut's profits achieved in the short term.

Not at all. The liar will surely damage the company's reputation and business in the long run
It really depends on the individual him/herself, rather they define themselves as liars,spammers,or not then they can carry on the process.
Now selling lies most of the answers here include may work for some time but not all the time.plus if the customer finds out , a big negative word of mouth advertising will be spread about you(your business as well).
