As per your question it is not clear that which industry you are talking about.
But generally if you are talking about Manufacturing Concerns than it depends upon the business requirements. If the company is following Multilayered BOM's, Multiple Production Stages , using Just In time operating enviroment or Process Manufacturing is to be handled than Quickbooks will not work for you.
But in case of simple Job Order Manufacturing Quickbooks can fulfill all your basic reporting needs.

Quick books is simple and easy to use sofware, obviously if you are dealing with large product range then you have to work on ERP to manage inventories but for small businesses i think its the best software and a complete package...
I don't think so, because it has little functionalities.
