Risk Assessment
Hazard: A hazard is anything that has the potential to cause harm.
Consequence: Consequence is the outcome of the Hazardous event.
Likelihood: Likelihood is the chance that the hazardous event will occur.
Risk: Risk is the combination of the hazardous event occurring and the consequence of the event.
Risk = Likelihood X Consequence
Risk Assessment: A risk assessment is a careful examination of anything in your work environment that causes injury.
List Work Tasks
1. Locations.
2. People.
3. Equipment
4. Activity
Identify the risk
1. What are the Hazards?
2. Who might be harmed?
3. How might they be harmed?
Estimate the risk - Evaluate the risk.
Review your findings.
Countermeasure of Risk:
ERICPD
E = Eliminate the risk.
R = Reduce the Risk.
I = Isolate the Risk
C = Control (Automation) measures
P = PPE
D = Development of self-system of work (Training, signboard etc.)
Risk Assessment is the analysis of varioushazards that may be present in any workplace. It is usually a part of Safe Procedures and Organisation Policy.
It is one of the most important duties of all Safety officer.It is performed by taking the data into a form and every company has their own customized or standard forms avaliable
Risk assessment consists of five stages
1.Identify the hazard
2.Who might be harmed?
3.What is already being done or taken for hazard analysis?
4.Implement contol measures for the specified hazard.
5.Review and record the finding for continuous improvement.
Rsik assessment is a systematic process of evaluating the potential risks that may be involved in a projected activity or undertaking. The related steps are:
1. Identification of objectives
2. Risk identification
3. Risk analysis
4. Risk evaluation
5. Risk treatment
It is the process of identifying hazards and evaluating the risk and the steps on preparing risk assessment are as follows:
1) Identify the hazards at the workplace which is anything that can cause harm to people and one step is to take each task and break into steps. Each step will have its own hazard and once hazards are identified it should be assess 2.) who might be harmed either the one who will carry out the activity or other near the vicinity of the work. 3.) Evaluate the risk and decide on the control measures, the risk is the likelihood of the hazardous event occurring and the severity of the harm when incident occurred, although it is not possible to reduce the severity, however, the likelihood of occurrence can be reduced depending on the control measures. The simple way to assess the risk is to allocate a description of High, Medium or Low to the level of risk. The control measures needs to be decided in order to reduce the likelihood to the lowest level. It is best to keep the record of the significant findings of the assessment for the future reference and use. The work is constantly changing and that it is best to review the assessment and revise if necessary
