Hospitality and catering: Do you think that it is better for a restaurant to have menus without prices or do people prefer to know the prices beforehand? Why?

Menu and prices should go at the same time.

price in menu not need to ask if we but or not because answer easy ..

1 coustomer know you from your price menu 

2 your price reflact your quality and who will visit you 

3 coustmer will be more upsit if he not see price special who come with family or with his friend because he not know prices

5 the trust of yours coustomer come from price in menu 

 at all its must be inside yours menu

in general, it is better for a restaurant to have menu with prices but if a restaurant is special one for high rank customers it does not matter.

People prefer to know the prices beforehand, because most the clients choose there dish base on the price

It differ form the bussiness prespective and the outlet requirement...but if the menu has a the potentail variety which suits the customer demands and need and his palate than some how the price never be an issue  , but yes every one see the product first than the prices so that one can planned his entire eatry  accordingly...

so the pricecard is important with the menu so that customer can opt as per his/her  wish to order with expending power ....

if the price is not there than there would be a lot of ambiguity among the customer and curioisty to know the price of each product and which will be lengthy process of order taking and undertanding.
