One of my project, we were near completion of the project and going live in 2 days, business came and asked to make quick change which was not agreed as part of the requirement and telling, it is urgent and with out this change we can't go live.
This type of situation, i assessed with the help of technical team how much work is required and then determined that we need more 5 to 7 days efforts to complete this change. Anyway after this i proposed 2 options to business.
option 1 is, We will make this change but as you know it is required 7 days so we have to delay the project for 2 weeks.
option 2 is, Go as per planned and make changes in parallel and deploy the changes as part of rapid deployment in 2 weeks.
However in both options we need the official Project change request so we can justify new scope, cost and timeline.
Business agreed to option 2 and this is how i resolved the scope creep situation.
