Would sales strategy vary from region to region ?

Would sales strategy that work in US and Europe work in Asia. We are told even in the west cultures vary from place to place. In Spain a handshake lasts for7 strokes , in France it is a single stroke. In England never stick pens or other objects in front suit pocket. Allow plenty of time to know the people you are dealing with in Africa. They are suspicious of people who are in a hurry. Stress on longevity when dealing with Germans. If the company is around for a while the founding date would be printed on your business cards. Do these factors affect sales strategy at the local level?
