Well, it can be a very tricky situation to calculate the total head a pump produces (unless you are in production and a design engineer) else simply check out the pumps characteristic curves to find out the Total Head of the pump.

If you are a design engineer, then you would parameters like, suction head available, size of the eye of the impeller, the design of the vanes, running speed of the pump etc.
