Giving the fact that social media is nowadays the most powerful tool and is being used by all the people around the world and of different ages then i must say it is a very effective marketing technique.
It is not the only marketing technique but it is one of the most powerful techniques.

I think that Social Media is a very important part of marketing however, for greater exposure can't be used alone.
Social media is a clever way to reach your audience and get direct feedback but it can't be enough.
There should be other marketing tools available to reach more people.
You understand the mentality of your followers through social media and use this to reach more audience through sales and marketing.

Social media marketing certainly offers a massive opportunity for organisations to target their consumers.  There is no excuse for any company, however small, not to grow their business via social media networks.  

 

But  before allocating a significant percentage of your budget into paid adverts on social media it’s important to build a relationship with your online consumers.  Investing time to create engaging content will build loyalty.  These visitors will then be more inclined to convert into customers.

 

With any successful marketing technique you need a clear and defined strategy.  Social media marketing is no different. Integration with other channels is key and should be recognised for their impact on improving brand recognition, user experience, SEO and conversion.
