Considering what we currently know about the special needs of students on the autistic spectrum, with ADD and ADHD, and other social and physical disabilitiies, we always need to know more and learn new techniques as things change.  Certainly, one must get special training for special needs students, but that training will never truly end.

Just like with any conventional education training, every time there is a new trend or innovation, teachers must learn new ways to interact with and engage their students.  I think it is even more pronounced for special educational needs (SEN) students. All teachers needd brush ups on their training from time to time, but SEN teachers need it in more depth and volume than the rest of us due to the sensitivity and variables involved with interacting with their students.

Yes, it is good idea. learning cycle never ends you can learn until end of life.

Special education for special people who need utmost attention based on their psychological and physical conditions and behavior, which even varies from person to person despite of similar conditions. Hence, the Teachers should get basic training as well as periodical updates or interactions from the similar community from national and international levels, in turn it helps them handling the situations with care and comfort

Yes, teachers need special training to handle different kind of students. In a class of students, you meets some who are clever and some who are not clever.  However,  your freqency of teaching should be vary for the weaker ones to cop with your teaching. You would bear with that even the five figures are not the same. A teacher must come to a level such that the weaker ones should be able to understand him.

teachers who are assigned to special education, will face many difficulties if they are not trained properly in this particular field.

Dear Ms. Lina, many thanks for your kind invitation to respond.

I have been working in this field for ten years in the Italian Public Health Service (as an Educational Psychologist), my mother was a primary school teacher, my sister is an early-years schools teacher (from 3 to 6 years) and my wife is a high-school teacher :)

Said that, I think that these kind of trainings should be mandatory worldwide, if we feel that human respect, science, natural evolution and a right consideration for individual and social development are shared values.

If not, why not leaving everything as it was centuries ago (for example in the ancient Sparta), when children were just considered as 'small adults' to put on heavy-duties twelve hours a day and those with special needs often thrown down from a cliff ?

Yes, why not!! All right, it should not be mandatory but every teacher should attend at least a one week training or a refresher course every year to get knowledge and practice of special skills required to educate the special persons (People with disabilities). special persons (People with disabilities) need special attention and this challenging situation, God forbade, could happen to anyone of us at any stage of life. Sharing knowledge for good is a great profession and educating a disable person is just like giving him a new meaning of life and it could lead him to live a meaningful life.... isn't it a great reason to invest in yourself?

Thanks for invitation,

Yes, they have to get mandatory training courses for special education in order to be able to handle and give a real useful help to those very special people.
