I do believe that the best course is "Project Management".
Sorry it is not field of experience but I think he should have a practical training in one of the projects
My advice would to ensure you have the skills required to transfer/educate others your gained knowledge in the form of training and assessing.
Otherwise i would look at specific industry training such as oil&gas,mining,refining.
It depends on your desire and the field you want to join( production, power), but generally I suggest to have Fundamentals of Engineering certificate first
