Yes. With a well guided route and destination goods are assured to arrive at the expected time. Safer, efficient and cost effective.
What is the point of self driving trucks if there would be manual intervention for loading and unloading the vehicle. For empty trucks to go from point A to B, sounds fine. At the end, automated trucks are machines and they are bound to make errors if not monitored properly. The cost for rectifying the errors done by machines is always huge. It would slow down the supply chain process, increased lead times and delays in delivery and distribution process would be the possible outcomes.
The more humanity takes the path of development and progress, the more benefits there are to mankind
Next two years is very short time line for this kind of change to occur. Even though technology development is growing at an exponential space the infrastructure development in majority of the countries are growing at a small pace. So for the self driving eco system to thrive you need support of good infrastructure. Which according to me will take more than 2 years time line to get established
Thanks Ranjan for the invite.
Not in the near future is my take!
At the moment, The development & manufacturing of self driving trucks does not cover entire segment of different capacity vehicles across countries but limited to few advanced countries in some pockets . Even in advanced countries, the whole country has not adopted the model yet due to various constraints as associated technology/infra is yet to be developed with same pace.
Good to have our minds tuned to such a possibility to be future ready , may be after 10 to 15 years for a large scale working models to be actually delivering
I dont think so its because some how when we think to move cargo by local we defenitely need Truck....as per the company require this things we cannot predicit that self drving will be a change in next upcoming years
