Hey salaam. You can be prepared by BEING VERY MUCH EXPERT IN BOTH THE LANGUAGES. The language to be translated and of course the language in which the matter is translated. Be ready to translate anything.

I trust you are a newcomer to the field of translation, so you want to know how to prepare for the position.  My thoughts are:-

1)      You must know acceptable speed for translation work for the language for which you are appearing for an interview. Find out your speed of translation of words.

2)      All employers will screen you for an ability test i.e. translation work, so you must be ready for that.

3)      The interviewing part will be minimal if you have good score in Ability Test.

4)      Please carry with you to the interviewers, your translation work that you would like to show, if need be.

5)      If you have done any internship or language proficiency classes, carry their result sheet with you.

6)      In case you are carrying a dictionary for reference and you may refer it with the permission of the interviewing panel, if need be.

7)      Prepare yourself with right words to brief interviewer how do you love the translation work and how do you derive satisfaction from that work.

8)      If your speed of translation is slow, say that you take a few minutes more for translation work.

9)      Audio translation is more skillful and critical work and requires good presence of mind. However I have assumed here that you would be preparing for page translation.

10)   You must be polite to the audience (interviewer) if you happen to pick up a wrong word during the audio translation work.

11)   Keep your language proficiency certificates ready to prove your certified knowledge of the language.

12)   Meet the interviewing panel with confidence.

I can only relate this answer in a general sense so please excuse me.

One can only invisage that you are applying to translate a language of which you are proficient and therefore your preparation is based on speaking fluently, confidently and with the applicable accents.

Additionally, prepare youself by understanding the cutlure and people to which you are going to relate.

You should read the job description carefully, divide to 2 parts: What I have, and what I improve myself to have it.Prepare and practice a good presentation for what you are strong in, set a plan to get other skills that you don't have.Functionally, focus in fast typing skills, the types of translations that they need, practice translation in the same company feild and use some popular translation tools like tradox etc.
