What is the main objective of the lesson?  The ratio much TTT (teacher talking time), T-S (teacher - student) engagement and S-S (students to student engagement) time will be allotted.

Obviously the age level is important to determine the concentration span of the students.  If they are your regular student, anticipate what problems they might have the lesson (vocabulary, first language influence if a second language is being taught)

Seating arrangements may also play a vital role, allowing teaching to have access to all students at all time.

Don't give a lecture, unless you teaching adults at an academic level, even then, this might not be the most effective way of getting your lesson across.
