Well Lana, I suppose the work should be result oriented with clarity on deadlines. The work hours can be a bit flexible in terms of weekly accumulation. If an employee has a definite task deadline to be adhered to, he/she can follow the below method Breakdown task into small pieces Assign a reverse chronology (D day, D-1, D-2 etc) so that he/she knows the exact progress. Keep a buffer time bracket for unexpected eventualities If the employee is able to follow the above timelines he/she would hardly need to put in 40+hours weekly. They can have a peaceful weekend with appreciable work life balance

You really dont want to be indentify as clock watcher neither a workaholic. Potential employer moght be looking on how you manage your time effectively and work effeciently.

you need to measure the job and its properties (environment, tools, type of force used) to decide whether the 40hrs a week is normal or not, the main idea here is to know if you aware if this 40 hrs could affect the productivity and quality of the results, or not.

Hi Lana,

Working for 40 hours a week (5 days*8 hours) is a standard practise across the globe for majority of the companies.

But working for 40+ hours a week needs to be considered ONLY depending on the need/project basis.

During the interview, It's good for both the parties to have a clear disussion if there is any specification of hours for long term.

Thanks for invitation,

It depends on the job itself, but I will do my best to finish all assigned work on due time, otherwise I will never leave till I deliver same on a daily basis.
