At times, the customer's reviews are authentic to rely on when it comes to the websites holding verified status. For example: e-commerce sites like Amazon or Flipkart are reliable to get authentic customer's reviews. Other times, when websites belong to privately owned domains, it is not reliable and justified to put my faith blindly on social media led customer's reviews. People create multiple customer accounts with fake identities to put good reviews in order to increase the selling of their products.

I believe you would like more answers from customers point of view, so I will try to be as objective as possible. I always search reviews on products regardless if I already bought the product or I'm thinking to buy it. If its expensive I will first check what other people say about it. Platforms I trust the most is Forums, because these are the answers from different kinds of people Ans there very small chance that they're payed to say something about it. Besides, if the post about a product is genuine it will match with several other posts about the same product. As for the "reviewers" on social media, like bloggers and YouTubers... Meeeeh, they would really have to be thrilled about the product and I would have to be their regular follower. Only then I would consider buying the reviewed product and STILL go to forums to check what regular ppl say.

I think that it is quite a challenge to determine whether social media reviews are genuine or just paid. Thus, in order to ensure that you get the quality reviews, the latter should not come from someone who is paid to make a good review, but someone who is communicated to provide an honest review. So whether or not I believe in socmed reviews will depend primarily on the socmes activities of the reviewers.

The social media have a very powerful effect on the image of brande or product and now all major brands gives their product to bloggers to market them

In the past we used to be easily influenced by marketing campaigns, now its more about the opionion of others. We have now massive pools of reviews so the customers "paint" most of the time their own picture of a brand or company. So yes, its very important to take care about what our customers write about the company/ product/ service online.Personal purchase decisions became more a "social decisions".

As a seller, I would say yes I do believe, but as a buyer, I do NOT.

Though reviews are very helpful for new customers to decide either to purchase your product/service or not. But nowadays, companies are paying to third-party agents and freelancers to write reviews on their products/services. Which is very complicated for new customers to decide what to do.
