this depends on your target audience behavior, locations and their prefared social media platform and do not forget Google search ads.
I would personally prefer door-to-door marketing; visit your target audience, schools, offices etc and let them know of your presence by issuing brochures or flyers or team up with their Students Representative Council on several platforms to advertise. Try get an online presence as well;facebook page, instagram account or twitter account to show feeds on books that are trending.
since we can target our audience, social media is always an option, however inorder to have a long impact on students (particularly for brand preference by students) , how about eye cathching ads on there favourite shows.

I would say that the best channel to market a bookstore is to advertise on educational institution's web portals, FB page...
I would say Twitter and give Snapchat a try. I have tested snapchat and got good results.
Sure it always depend on the target audience. While building your add you have to be very specific about the behaviour and intrest of your target.
The best marketing channel for a bookstore are schools, colleges and universities. These are the organizations who has a big share/contribution in bookstores. Not only book material but other school materials. Though books are still major factor/tools required in the school even there is already internet access where they can easily google everything. Secondly, is for corporate or business organization only if they needed some materials for some specified projects.
Channels do not change, it is on what is your goal or your target audience. What do you want for your bookstore to be more revenue earned and more effective to the market.
