To begin with, CPC is a component of PPC, not two separate things. The cost you have to pay per click (PPC) in a campaign is called cost per click (CPC).

And to answer your query, Yes it’s a very cost effective and quick marketing channel, in the hands of an expert. And I do suggest using PPC channels strongly as it can boost your conversions in a very short time.

But it can leave you high and dry if you are caught fooling around ( @shuaib ). The amount of spend can go off the roof as each and every click is costing you money, so it does need extensive training and expertise. The budget of a typical ecommerce platform can go into millions of dollars per month and to maintain the right cost per acquisition involves a lot of hard work. A typical campaign involves selection of right kind of keywords, structuring the campaign, selecting proper medium, writing proper adcopy, experimenting on ideas, getting the landing page correct, studying the conversion funnel, anticipating problems, experimenting with page design, studying behavioural patterns, exits reasons, retargeting previously visited customer, etc.
