This is a technique used to maximize the brainstorming and focused research for members within one design team. It isn`t very effective if the communication isn`t organized by an idolised team leader who can control the interaction levels and communication...
I prefer to tweak this technique and make it more like a focus group for a specific part of each design according to the skillset and openness to teamwork rather than different specialties under one roof or space.. Justifiably this will be in 3 person max for each group or accordingly.
