Programming is a very general term nowadays, you can be a web developer or mobile application developer etc. so in order to put things in perspective if you haven't already chosen a path you will have to have a target industry and study the market wellfrom my humble experience in web design and UX/UI design i learned that being up to date with modern design trends is the most important aspect, you can't be a good designer if you are living in the past, and by the past i mean last year :D its like a race really! you have to keep up in order to be aqueduct for the market demands.think of things from a client or employer viewpoint and you will know where to steer. wish you all the best!!
