Answer: A.  The PMP Code of Professional Conduct requires cultural sensitivity to others. It's unacceptable to belittle anyone based on how they speak, the way they dress, or any other aspect of their cultural background. If you see a member of your team doing this, it's your responsibility to do what's necessary to correct the behavior and prevent it from happening in the future.

I would go with option A. The behaviour conducted by the two memers is ethically not excepted, but it dose indicate a communicaton problem that need to be solved using a suitable facilitation technique.

Correcting the team members individually and holding training session for the team to help improve communication barrires is appropriate. It is a wise decision that such an issue is addressed immediately to create a positive working environment for the team and to prevent future occurence.

The best approach is Option A: Correct the team members individually, and hold a training session for your team to help remove communication barriers.

Here’s why this option is the most effective:
  1. Individual Correction: Addressing the team members individually allows you to handle the issue discreetly and constructively without embarrassing them publicly. This approach encourages respectful communication and highlights the importance of professionalism and cultural sensitivity in a diverse workplace.

  2. Training Session: By organizing a training session, you can proactively address the broader issue of communication and cultural differences. This session can cover best practices for cross-cultural communication, promote awareness of language variations, and encourage empathy toward diverse linguistic backgrounds. Such training helps foster a respectful and inclusive environment within the virtual team.

Analysis of Other Options:
  • Option B (Correcting people publicly): Publicly reprimanding team members might create embarrassment, lead to resentment, and could harm team morale. This method often fails to promote positive change and may create an atmosphere of tension rather than cooperation.

  • Option C (Reporting to senior management): Reporting the team members and recommending punishment may be excessive for a first-time issue, particularly if it can be resolved through direct feedback and training. Escalating the issue without attempting a constructive approach can harm relationships and make team members feel untrusted.

  • Option D (Asking subcontractors to adjust speech): Requesting that the subcontractor change the way they speak is neither respectful nor feasible. It’s unrealistic to expect others to alter their natural dialect, and it could be perceived as insensitive, possibly damaging the relationship with the subcontractor.

Recommended Steps:
  1. Provide Feedback: Speak individually with the team members involved, explaining why respectful communication is essential and addressing the importance of professionalism.

  2. Organize Cross-Cultural Training: Arrange a session focusing on the benefits of diversity and practical communication tips for working with international and multilingual teams.

  3. Encourage Open Communication: Promote an open environment where team members feel comfortable discussing communication challenges, reinforcing mutual respect across the team.

This approach builds a stronger, more cohesive virtual team and helps prevent similar issues in the future.
