in a nutshell: you need to clarify the roles, authority, and responsibilities for essential financial management activities and decisions.

1. Authorizations

2. Budgeting

3. Policies

provide an overview of certain rules that you have in your NGO, and should.

  • align with NGO goals and plans
  • reflect the culture of the NGO
  • be flexible
  • be easily interpreted and understood by everybody in the Organization.

4. procedures

They should include the 'how to' guidelines to achieve the necessary results, and be:

  • factual, simple to understand and succinct
  • written in a step-by-step style that shows people how to follow the procedure through from beginning to end
  • include references or links to any related documents and forms that need to be completed when following the procedure
  • in the best format for their purpose, for example, a procedure could be presented as written steps, a flowchart or a checklist.

Establish the financial policy of an NGO.

To develop the financing policy of an NGO, we have to take into account various factors.

1. The Philosophy of the Organization, The choice of any funding source must be responsible and not contradict the code of the organization itself, not any donor is valid.

1. diversify, in order to achieve certain independence when establishing the lines of action. Only a few organizations can afford to be independent of public subsidies, so having different sources of public and private funding is what gives the NGOs some independence.

3. Establish strategies for different types of donors: to. Partners and Associates, who are the ones who should maintain the weight of the Organization with their contributions. It not only demonstrate the financial power of an NGO, also its ability to call, Its Capacity mobilize, .

    b. Goverment call for grants. Establish from the base a structure that enables the organization to develop projects, in all its phases (Identification, planification, development, evaluation) . Do not limit yourself to local or national calls but look for calls from any country. A correct identification and planning is fundamental to only assume the projects that we know we can develop successfully.

    c. Private company. On the one hand within the private company there are also calls to finance projects, both large companies and banks annually offer funds for social actions. And on the other hand we can get donations for the organization or for their projects dealing directly with the company .. It is essential that NGOs understand that there is social marketing and that there is nothing wrong with that. It is totally legal to find a way to finance and finance your actions, yes, I think we should look for donors within companies and entities that follow a certain ethical code, maybe it is utopian, but I like to think that you can look for support within companies that respect Human Rights and the environment, for example.

And finaly but not less important the Human Resourses, you must contract personel creative, dinamic, and specialy trained. Someone who knows the Stakeholders, who has the capacity to talk with all levels of local authorities staff.
