What are the challenges you might face in managing a multi-generational workforce?

I think there are several challenges: 

- Values may be different generation to generation 

- Work place expectations (benefits, compensation, lifestyle etc.) may be hard to manage between different generations.

- I think younger generations are more liekly to be a part of the gig-economy and therefore often switch jobs, tend to freelance or and maybe have less in depth knowledge (career growth may appear different).

- I think generational differences exist based on whether you grew up with technology or not

- I think online and self learning has also changed the landscape for careers, meaning younger generations are more interested in career changes and having extremely diverse skill sets. 

All of this could lead to issues with turnover, team building, biases for hiring and more importantly cause perhaps a bit of a rift, especially now that younger generations are having less kids, investing less and overall needing different things from their jobs.

I think the challenge is to built strong internal regulation that guide all in one direction, then you will benefit from the multi-generation to rise up the variety nd productivity of your organization

It is like managing old and new curreny notes. The senior members of the organizations bring the same value with experience as the new generation with their technological understanding. Creating an environment of collaboration and coaching, so that both the generations can benefit from each others experiences and learnings

Good question !

1. Value system - Could be different across multi-generations (e.g., a particular generation may prefer loyalty to the organization or a leader than to the profession) - will need training and coaching to inter-work with each other

2. Learnability - Technology and processes change too fast with paradigm shifts that the older generation may find a bit longer to grasp and adopt compared to the newer generation, which kind of grew up with change of pace in technology and tool introduction

3. Of course, if the work involves physical strength and stamina, the younger generations may be be found more productive

4. This also depends a lot on the open mindset and awareness among multi-generation work force
