As a sale engineer I should have above skills because I need to explain costumer about the product as simple as they can understand.
As a Sales Engineer you should have a good knowledge about your products and how they work , after having this knowledge you need to learn how to communicate it effectivly. Gaining technical skills will help you to communicate this knowlege easily,smoothly and correctly. You might need technical skills to propose your products formaly and briefly and effciently to your manager or to present your product attractivly to the customer . You also need to follow the problem solving strategy to identify the exact problems then select a proper solution. A good example of these problems could be lowering the costs , rising the profits, or reaching customer satisfaction..etc , or any other deep detailes issue.
After having this knowledge you need to learn how to communicate it effectivly.
They must have extensive knowledge of the products’ parts and functions and must understand the scientific processes that make these products work.
Nothing gives a buyer confidence seeing a sales engineer describing a product he loves and want to acquire, explaning the details to the bearest minimum to a layman's understanding. It gives the buyer confidence that if eventually they encounter any malfunction or issue they will not hesitate to reach you.
