For me, greatness in teaching should be value's based and how knowledge is effectively delivered to the learning hungry young individuals, is the key to an ethical and admirable teaching.

One of the curious aspects of modern higher education is that what most would still regard as its core activity, teaching, does not find its way into most of the formal metrics used to assess institutional performance. True, things like the student-staff ratio (which, mind you, is not of as much value as you might think) are used, and quality assurance provides some insights. But on the whole the assessment of teaching is fixated on process rather than content or standards.

Teaching in the university allows the instructors to exchange information with thier students rather than only deliver it to them which creates a full duplex communication betweem both the students and the teachers , however the teaching process deffers from that in school since we are dealing with variuos students comming from different cultural & educational aspects . Thus the gained experience is termendous in terms of verbal & written communication skills , scientific research , projects establishment and academic improvements.
