Make sure everything about you is up to date and create application that is tailored to the jobs you want.
Your LinkedIn, Bayt account, Social Media Accounts, Blogs, Articles, they need to be fully edited and featured in one place. I recommend building one profile or portfolio, or website with ALL of your information. Make sure your entire online presence is perfect, edited and consistent with your whole professional profile.
When you send your application though, (Cover Letter and CV), make sure they are perfectly tailored to the job. This is hard work but it matters. Most employers use a scan system either self-created or through sights like Bayt to check for the exact skills they mentioned in their job ad. Look at the whole job ad, research the company and make sure you give them a clear picture about how you and that company are a great match.
Feature your accomplishments and skills. I check skills really quickly just to see if they match the description. If the skills aren't there I skip the CV. Use active language that tells me about what you did or achieved. If you are a Regional Manager, tell me how you reached or exceeded your targets? Tell me how much money you made compared to the previous quarter. Paint me the picture of how you are better at the job you do with each new year and how you accomplish things on time for your employers.
Creating a strong personal brand that details your attributes, accomplishments, and aspirations in terms of career development and personal growth. A persons skills set should also be identified in order for an orgazition to determine whether they match the description.
Mention skills and strenght clearly. Be honest about the past experience. Strong communication skills.
Being Honest about you portfolio & making the proper handline
Share achievments & projects worked on with proper support of deliverables & gains.
There are three effective ways to create a CV/portfolio in my opinion.
1. Elaborate on Your EXPERIENCE- State your work experience (position, history, tasks) and elaborate on the things that you've done. This is important especially to senior job hunters as employers seek experienced people who can work with less supervision.
2. Showcase Your ACHIEVEMENTS- Some companies do not care about long work experience. What matters to them is your achievement in your previous work. Hence, if you have closed a big deal or got lots of sales, include it in your CV/Portfolio. You can add it in your CV/Portfolio Summary or explain it in your Work Experience section.
3. Level Up Your Presentation- Lots of people aspire to get employed in the UAE, so what will make you stand out? Before even reading the CV's contents, employers will look at the layout of your file. Thus, make sure to organize details. Categorize sections and put important details on top of your CV. Do not forget to add the link of your LinkedIn, online portfolio, email, and contact number. These are important to include. Attached your training/seminar certificates as well. Also, browse the net for clean yet eye-catching CV designs.
Like any good CV what is most important is good presentation. Be it a marketing job or otherwise your qualifiations experiences and training to be highlighted to be noticieable to the prospective employer. Nex thing is to avail the usage of means to reach the right employers.
