The obvious reason being that good customer service should equate to high customer retention.
Otherwise, the customer wouldn't return these days.
Nothing destroys a companies reputation faster than word of mouth, happy customers talk, unhappy customers complain - not to you but their friends. You could have the best product on the mrket at the best price but with unhappy customers it will stay on the shelf.
Simply becuase Profit matter for organaition and now org don't only focus on good customer service they go beyond that i.e. after sales services and support to retain them and to multiply them and that is called Brand Promotion and Recogition.
as customer service does more than simply provide a means to drive sales. It is also said that when companies have a commitment to a customer service this raises the bar of competition.
