You can't improve your vocabulary of English language by learning only vocabulary words. Extensive reading, guessing the words' meanings in context, using and learning words in groups, using and learning the exact collocations will not only improve your voc immensely but also make you sound natural when u use the same........I hope it helps
As for vocabulary, watch different programs on TV; one for science; one for business...etc ;). Do the same with books; read a book on people, a book on science...etc.
You can find some good books in British Council Library. If you have internet access then you can type ‘learn English online free’ for vocabulary, and ‘learn English grammar online free’ and watch videos on www.youtube.com . You can also find multiple sites for learning vocabulary and grammar by typing ‘learn English online free’ and ‘learn English grammar online free’ in google or yahoo search pages. I’ve used www.ego4u.com , www.englishgrammar101.com with my students.
English vocabulary means using a more academic style and word choice (Lexical Resource) when writing. Using topic specific vocabulary, collocations and words from the academic word list will help considerably.
A vocabulary list is useful because it gives you a guide as to which words you should aim to include in your writing. However, as with all wordlists, these terms are best learnt and used in context. So practice, practice and practice!
A quick google search lead me to these useful articles that can help you learn English grammar and enrich your vocabulary:

Various activities, games, etc can be the medium to teach vocabulary. For example, if students are playing on the ground, or making lemonade during activity hours, can be taught plenty of words related to the topic. This is a fun way of voacabulary building.
That depends of the learner's style; whether he/she Visual Learn, Auditory Learners, Auditory Learners, Kinesthetic learners
