Accounts is just book keeping and maintenance of accounting transactions and presentation of financial statements.

While Finance is much wider term which covers cost control, business development and business intelligence and remediation of management structure. So obviously career in Finance is an excellent career such as CFA, CMA and CPA

Accounts is the art of treating the various transactions to various account heads as per the context.

Finance is concerned with the handling of finances-raising, utilising, managing.

The former will form a basis for raising the finance. The latter will be  giving one set of transactions for making the former.

Both are equally good career options.

I use a simple approach to defining these roles in construction:

  • accounts deals with history- what has happened in the past and
  • Finance- is future commercial outcomes
