Con sales person will be conning by fixing the right size of cap by selling a comb to bald person and thereafter will never show up again.

yes he would sell a comb to a hairless person because he identified the need of the hairless guy's wife and kids for the comb.
and this successfull salesman identified the needs beyond the hairless guy and listened,analyzed,jumped and made the sale when he knew the the guy has a wife and kids that can use a comb.

Yes a salesperson can sell anything even if the customer doesn't need it. But if the customer realized that he went through a fraud or that the salesperson tricked him he won't trust him nor the company he presents. Sometimes we also have customers who buy anything even if they don't need it Just to satisfy something deep inside him/her.
Its just a saying because everyone knows a bald man doesnt have any use of comb , but yes if sales man is good , then can explain why its beneficial for others who have hair. Because need of comb will be felt to people who wants to comb hair as comb wont be used to repair a car or something else.
So honesty in selling is important and frauds and duping doesnt pay anyways.

I will not call him Good Salesman, i would rather call the other one as Fool Customer who due to less information bought the goods which remain idle and salesman must avoid such tactics as it made the sale but never multiply it.
I don't think so. The customer will soon find out that he/she was not honestly treated and the relationship with the person who did that will be distroyed. A good dalesman is who can keep customers for life.
Be it the worst economic recession or a warzone. Everyday someone is selling and someone is buying. Just make sure you are the one selling and not buying. That is the attitude of a good salesman.
A good salesman will not sell based upon the need of the customer rather create one for him in accordance to the need of selling the product. Bald or rich hair, a good salesman will sell the comb for the sake of selling and not the hair that needs the combing.
- First build rapport with the bald man.
- Secondly build the image how he feels about being hairless in social and work environment.
- Provide him the latest scientific data about the New Innovative Product which is Medicated Comb to regain hairs.
- Convince him that by using this Medicated comb hairs will grow.
This is the quality of a sales person to sell the things to a person who doesn't need of it.
All of guys relax. I think the person was just trying to use a metaphor in regards to qualities of a Salesman. A good salesman should be as good as one who can sell a comb to a bald person. Its like a saying. And yes that's how good a salesman should be. I mean the best salesmen come from life insurane companies since it is voted as the hardest service to sell. In their case they just do sell virtual services! So in all, chill out!
