Being an expat I would like to know why Dubai and UAE as a region is most prefered one compared to other countries for Expats. Looking forward for your responses.Thanks.
Gulf is a wonderful place as per my experience my stint in Saudi has enriched me as a person.Gulf is engulfed in its tradition custom language & Disciplines.they according to me,is one of the most well behaved, humble and flexible races of the world. As far as lifestyle goes, even a dare heart democracy would expect you to adjust and adapt.A sure shot formula for an expat anywhere in the world "when in Rome live like the Romans do but Stick to your roots and natives will stick to you"
well i believe once you leave your homeland country you are born into the new country of your choice.
we must adhere to and respect the laws and culture of our new place of living or country.
middle east is still openning up to the world, uae as an example has taken faster steps than other gcc countries like saudi arabia while qatar is still in the middle.
you will have issues if you go against accepted laws and practices ,they are not stricker than europe or usa for sure.
due to the number of different nationalities that are in the middle east as expats, you will find your place to fit in much easier than europe or usa.
Every country has it's own set of strict rules and non allow to put any new rule by an individual as per convinience. As long as you respect and follow that you are not in any trouble.
Hi Kapil,
Expats may face issues related to Employment or to their Lifestyle, depending on where they are from, anywhere in the middle east.
Dubai and UAE may appear to have more lax and employee friendly rules and employment laws/ policies. Dubai is also quite glamorized which also draws people there.
For some people, the ability to avoid paying taxes is very attractive (although that is changing). Also, as strange as it might sound, for some people a strict and orderly society is a welcome relief to one that is laxed on rules and there is a lack of personal security.
I believe that there are ristricted rules anywhere and not only in arab countries. It all depends on each person and expats do have issues everywhere. Every one should adapt to the culture he/she works in and if that is not possible, he/she should look for an opportunity somewhere else. It will depend on the balance of benefits and alternatives.
Any expat living anywhere in the world may face issues when it comes to lifestyle, every country in the world has its own rules and/or traditions and if the person is not flexible enough to adapt with different cultures and find a way to mix between his own culture with what exists around him then s/he will definitly face issues.
