Yes. Business Development is a term that incorporate a wide range of activities. In my personal experience working as a BDE I have worked on buliding tie-ups and partnerships in the market with prospect clients. The final target of mine with this is to make sales happen. With each tie-up and partnership I forecast the sales that will walk in. Now, to be able to reach to these prospective clients I had to do a lot of marketing. I did web marketing, email marketing and alot of networking.
Once the tie-ups were agreed upon I worked on CRM myself. Upon finally receiving purchase orders I used to lead my team to move towards site visit, cost estimation, layout planning and more.
As you can see that my role is BDE but the range of activites in developing a business included Sales, Marketing, CRM and Team Management.
