Which is most effective in performing mechanical maintenance:- your educational background , related professional courses or practiced experience ?.

In fact the three components are one way to perform your job *

.your education is your logic thinking

.your courses are your tools to to grant the right task to the right part

 . your experience  is where & what to do at the right time

You certainly will require in some capacity all of the requirements you listed. However the skills or educational levels required for whichever position you apply for, should give an idea of what is required for the position.  In my experience the question of education v experience is a contentious issue that will never have a perfect solution.  I have found that if you are being interviewed by  a "suit" then they have one eye on your education and if your being interviewed by "boots" then its experience.  But each job/interviewer will be different, sometimes it comes to how you hold yourself in the interview and nothing to do with a particular skill.

For me, the  3 factors you mentioned if combined are all effective in performing your mechanical maintenance. Your education is your foundation and the fundamentals you learned in school, your math, mechanics & physics. Professional courses are advance knowledge you acquired for your choosen field and gained more mechanical reasoning in mind. Practiced experience is also important because it is your hands-on ability and where you learned judgement in actual situations. Hope to have shared you some ideas. Thanks.

Assuming the scenario takes place in the Middle East, then I would expect it's the "boots" guy who's got the say so I would dress sharp in a "suite" and go for the interview in "boots"! .. This makes a point Paul :)

Well, they all look for experience backed up by a degree .. It's difficult to balance .

Off course it’s the combination of all three education, courses and experience; but unfortunately what we see these days in the market is always about experience even of its an old school that waste energy, money and time….

All factors are very important. Of course practised experience with educational background will be excellent

it is good to use all listed factors and your experience will manage you to control using your education and cources
