Primavera P6, MS Project..errmm.. do you think we should just stick with Good old Excel?

I am just curious to know, how many of you use Primavera P6 for actual Project Planning and Control, or is it still the old and efficient way of utilizing MicroSoft Excel being followed at your places ? We know how complicating stuff can get with infinite number of activities and further ,if each are resource loaded or use different calendars. Thoughts ?

Excel sheets are good for daily tracking which keeps changing......They are easy and good...But cant help you with reminders and task plan for the day, unless you are expert to create macros.

MS Project is wonderful tool for Project management. A one time work of keying in each task is needed in this. But for monitoring and task planning this is the best tool.

The power of Primavera P6 is absolutely amazing, MS Project is a joke in comparison.  For serious project planners in the construction, building devopment industry, go investigate Primevera, you will not be sorry.

If you would like to know more send private message, i will give you a contact company that actually uses the package in Dubai.

I would say a perfect planner uses the  combination both excel and scheduling tool like MSP ,Asta or P6.

But excel is handy if you are micro managing.
