First of all these are the merits of 'wind enegy':

  • Definitly it is a renewable energy and have long life 'free' production.
  • Capital cost for such energy has been lower in last few years and its comparative graph with PV enrgy is down enough to install it.
  • This is environment friendly energy that produces no toxic emissions and hazard components in environment for danger of humen beings and other natures
  • Definitly it may produce new job openings which is an economical benefit for communities.

At the same nodge when 'benefits of wind energy' are in front, demerits of this energy are not apart from expectations.

  • It is really difficult to make this energy centeralized however such plants are normally at local level.
  • Energy production is not fully predictable as predictive variable in its regression equation is 'wind' and wind flow is not constant overall.
  • Production of such plants comes with great echo life dangers. Because after construction of any such kind of project normally compell the animals and other natural creatures to move away.
  • On one hand where it has some environmental positive impact that more wind may flow in surronuding areas, at the same time sound (dB level) production is essential in surroundings.

advantage lie in the freely available, non depleting and clean resource of wind. a sustainable resource with no associated pollutants and no worry of fluctuating fuel prices. Intermittency problems, and huge upfront cost is the major problem. In some countries, people dont support wind turbines because they are a bit noisy and look ugly in their backyard. Also wind turbines have killed a lots of birds/bats concerning the enviornmentalists. Thus current trend of off-shore wind turbines have surfaced. This too have huge upfront costs but, the wind consistency off-shore is higher than on-shore thus higher productivity.
